About Us

I grew up in Istanbul/Turkey where we had frequent visits to Turkish baths, which has been a tradition for centuries, and we would use peshtemal to cover ourselves.

Later in the years, I started grabbing these towels to the beaches to dry myself. From that point on Turkish towels have been in my beach bag, bathroom and travel bag.

When I moved to the States as a young student, my friends started admiring me using these practical, lightweight towels. Basic Layers was born in Southern California shortly after. I wanted to create simplicity with modern designs that would meet most requirements in life.

At first, it wasn’t easy to convince my customers to change their thick towels to these lightweights, compact and multiuse towels. It was when I started getting repeat customers, that made me realize that I was on the right path. “Bringing traditional use of our towels to meet modern time needs of our customers”.

10 years later, here we are distributing Turkish Towels nationwide.

Basic Layers is a family-owned and operated business.

We are located in San Diego, CA, and ship everywhere.
